Survival Gear: Military Field Manual - Airdrop Derigging And Recovery Procedures FM 4 20.107 2004

Posted by Family Rations on

SHTF Survival gear should include adequate webbing and straps for use in airdrop rigging and derigging situations.

This document describes the procedure for derigging, evacuation and recovery of airdropped survival supplies.  It is of critical importance that airdrop survival supplies are secured properly as they can experience violent turbulence while airborne and upon impact with the ground.  It is equally important that equipment is derigged as to not damage the load.

It includes the use of cargo covers, different platforms, common hardware, straps and webbing, parachute jettison systems and more.  The conditions of which the operation will take place are a major factor, be it polar, tropical, desert, marine or mountainous.
